Juno (Movie)
CM gave me the link of trailer for Juno. Before that I have never even heard of the movie. It was released on a pretty small scale.
Go have a look at the trailer:-
Juno Trailer
If I were to describe it you would most definitely think this is just another teen flick. It’s about this 16-year-old girl who got pregnant. And then decided to keep it for adoption.
But I am telling you, this movie is very different from the rest. It totally spells out R-E-A-L-I-T-Y. Instead of that totally overrated High School Musical goo. Of course it does have some it’s-a-movie characteristics such as like her parents were pretty cool and supportive of her despite the fact that she was only 16. But I guess a big part of it is due to the fact that she isn’t that ditzy, flirtatious, party girl. From the very first scene, you would love Juno (the character). The actress, Ellen Page, did a really good job and no one else could have replaced her. Just take a look at the trailer, you’ll know what I mean.
Oh, Jennifer Garner also starred in this movie as one of the adoptive parents of Juno’s baby. She’s known for her role as Sydney Bristol in Alias. The actor playing her husband is Jason Bateman who you would know if you watch Arrested Development. Also, do you remember his son in Arrested Development? Yeah he’s in it too as the guy who made Juno pregnant.
I love how the movie starts. And the opening music too. The soundtrack of Juno is well…how do I put it…quirky and light. The whole movie would be labeled as quirky and full of humorous sarcasm. I’m not trying to say that not everyone is er…"made" for this movie but you have to be able to identify sarcasm when you see it to be able to laugh while watching.
The total runtime of the movie is only about 90 minutes. Not exactly long enough but it pretty much did its job effectively. The whole purpose of the movie is to deliver a whole new perspective of the whole teenage pregnancy thing. For so long, teen pregnancy has always been perceived as something dreaded, heavy and despicable. This movie helped shed new light. It’s neither pro- nor anti-teen pregnancy which is the best place it should stand.
Trust me, if the trailer has much appeal to you, go get the movie immediately. Well I think mostly girls would love it. But I’ve seen guys who loved it. Forget about action-packed, gore-filled and horror movies for once. Give Juno a chance.
P.S. I forgot to mention, Juno was nominated for the Oscars Award 2008. So yeah, it sums up how good this movie is.
Lyrics for my fave song of Juno OST.
ANYONE ELSE BUT YOU
PERFORMED BY MICHAEL CERA & ELLEN PAGE
(originally performed by The Moldy Peaches)
You’re a part time lover and a full time friend
The monkey on you’re back is the latest trend
I don’t see what anyone can see, in anyone else
But you
Here is the church and here is the steeple
We sure are cute for two ugly people
I don’t see what anyone can see, in anyone else
But you
We both have shiny happy fits of rage
I want more fans, you want more stage
I don’t see what anyone can see, in anyone else
But you
You are always trying to keep it real
[Anyone Else But You lyrics on http://www.metrolyrics.com]
I’m in love with how you feel
I don’t see what anyone can see, in anyone else
But you
I kiss you on the brain in the shadow of a train
I kiss you all starry eyed, my body’s swinging from side to side
I don’t see what anyone can see, in anyone else
But you
The pebbles forgive me, the trees forgive me
So why can’t, you forgive me?
I don’t see what anyone can see, in anyone else
But you
Du du du du du du dudu
Du du du du du du dudu
I don’t see what anyone can see, in anyone else
But you
Four days
My parents have gone away to Cambodia. They’ll be away for 4 days. And that means 4 days of freedom where I can do everything on my own. Of course on the first day it felt odd because of the sudden quietness and stillness in the house. But we’re doing great now. =D
I only have my brother and my dog (Princess) for company. And of course Teddy whenever he’s free to come over. Mmm. It’s fun being in control of the entire house. Wish I could drive though. =/
Which reminds me, my driving exam is next Tuesday. I’m scared I might screw it up. But I had my last lesson yesterday (Friday) and I’m pretty ready for it. So just gotta cross my fingers and hope for the best.
Wish me luck before Tuesday. =P
The Next Big Step
Like I mentioned in my other blog I’ve been a bit preoccupied with colleges and scholarships and such. Recently went to The Star Education Fair at KLCC to clear my doubts. The college representatives were all pretty helpful. Talked to a few colleges and yeah the way they talk can be pretty persuasive.
And you know usually when you go to fairs and such they give out brochures and pamphlets? I like collecting those especially the nice ones.

The best ones are easily by Taylor’s University College. Which is why I’m going to join Taylor’s Foundation in Communication in March. Lol. Nah seriously, Taylor’s program for mass communication is pretty good. Plus they’ve got brand new Power Mac G5 computers specially for communication students. =D
So if you’re gonna head to TCPJ (Taylor’s College PJ) after getting the SPM results, let me know and perhaps we can be housemates. =P

Teddy’s Birthday ‘08
Oops I guess it’s been quite some days past your birthday. =D Sorry only got around to editing the pictures recently.
We started off with my dressing spectacularly hot.
Okay I look a bit fat here.

I remember that Teddy urged strongly to wear my jacket. Hmm I wonder why…
Then I gave Teddy instructions to drive to Mid Valley. I can’t drive yet so Teddy has to drive himself out on his birthday. Lol. We got out of the car and he stopped there and looked at me.
"Wow you look like you’re going clubbing."
"So?"
"I’m gonna get a lot of stares today."
I smiled smugly at him and grabbed his hand.
"But they can’t have me."
Anyway, he was a little hungry and me a little nauseous. I still hadn’t fully recovered from my food poisoning. So we headed to Dome Cafe.
Biscotti anyone? I love those.
Mushroom soup. This is just…heavenly.
After that we walked around for a bit before it was time to take Teddy to where I planned for us a movie to watch. =D
It was the new GSC Signature at The Gardens shopping mall. It’s a boutique cinema which means it’s designed and decorated very poshly. They only have premier and gold class. So yeah you gotta pay a bit more for all that sleek black walls and comfy seats.
I don’t know if it’s me or what but the popcorn tastes better there though of course they cost more. =/

The whole cinema was pretty empty. I think GSC is losing a lot of money there. In our hall there were only 9 of us. And it was a new movie not one that’s been showing for weeks.
After the movie it was time to take Teddy to where I planned for dinner. I’ve always wanted to tried the food there too.
We went to this Italian restaurant at Taman Segar, Cheras. And you know what? There were 3 Italian guys there to take our order and serve us. But when we peeked in at the kitchen we saw an Indian chef. Haha.

Mmm all looks so good now. It was too bad that then I wasn’t feeling all that well yet. I would have finished all the risotto. I want more now. =(

That was the end to Teddy’s birthday plan by me. =D Hoped you enjoyed it. Anyway it’s too late for complaints, it’s way past the due date for complaints. ^^
Finally!
Finally I’ve been granted time to actually blog! Okay maybe more like I was feeling a little lazy to update this. But oh well. I was actually pretty preoccupied lately with looking into which college to go too. Today I went to The Star Education Fair and spoke to a fair amount of college representatives. I pretty much have a rough idea of what I’m gonna do. Tomorrow I’ll be going with my parents to get more detailed information.

Anyway just to give a short report on my recent Bandung trip, I vow never to return to Indonesia for all eternity. On my last night there I got hit by the worse ever food poisoning. I threw up like 7 times and had diarrhoea like 5 times. Ugh. And the food there is just plain bland and horrid.
But I did get to shop a fair bit. Not too much just enough to keep me satisfied. ^^

These pseudo-strawberry fruits are EVIL. They made me throw up.

Got an LV purse (this is the box)

Got my first taste of J.CO Donuts

One of their main modes of public transport at Bandung is the "Angkut". It’s this van with doors like those on buses. Those folding doors. People can hail these vans from the roadsides and hop onto them to get to their destinations. Different angkuts have different routes to go. And when waiting for traffic lights to go green sometimes some guys with guitars will come and sing you a short song while you wait. It’s their way of begging. Actually its daylight robbery.

So that was my first and last trip to Indonesia. Not really THAT enjoyable except for the shopping part.

It’s 2008 Already?
Wow year 2007 has sped by and is miles behind us. It’s the start of 2008 already! A whole new year to look forward to. I’ll be starting college soon. Like in two months. =S
Teddy figured out that since it’s gonna be a new year, getting a new haircut for myself would be fun. So we went to A Cut Above @ Sunway Pyramid and had Teddy’s hairstylist chop off my hair. He asked me at first what would I like. I had him give a suggestion and he thought I would look good with Victoria Beckham’s short hair style. It’s kinda like bob cut at the back and gets longer towards the front.

I kinda like it. Feels so much lighter and less hassle. I’m thinking if I should color it. Would be nice, I think…
I cut my hair on the 31st December and just in time for the new year. On the next day, Teddy and I decided to be spontaneous and head up to Genting =D.
My driver =P

There were several clowns there and Teddy had them make me a teddy bear and bunny. The bunny looks weird though.

Fishies at Genting

I had fun that day with Teddy. Can’t wait for another spontaneous trip with you.

—————————————————
It’s the 3rd of January and I’ll be heading off to Bandung in about 8 hours. I’ll be away for 4 days. Four days of pure shopping. =D
I’ll miss you though.
And Princess too. =/
But I’ll come home with a whole new bag of clothes =D.
Mmm…ah well. It’ll be over before I know it and I’ll have new sets of clothes for college. Going off now to bed. Nites. Happy New Year.
