I just watched The Notebook again the other night with my mom. This time I controlled myself better, but you should have seen my mom. She was crying and crying and crying. Lol. My mom is the kind that cry easily watching movies and when I suggested to her to watch The Notebook and I knew that this movie was going to run her waterworks dry, because I myself cried, and not many movies can do that. So if a movie manages to make me cry then it’s a really good one. I’ll make my short list of tear-jerking movies:
1. The Notebook
This is actually and adaptation of Nicholas Spark’s book The Notebook. It starts showing an old man reading a book to this old woman who has dementia. The story is about a couple who fell in love during their summer holidays and later got separated when the girl moves off to college. For seven years they lived different lives and then that faithful day came when they would meet each other again. This rekindled the flame that was left to die during their youth. The ending to this movie isn’t a sad one, it’s actually a very good ending. But because it’s so beautiful and happy that you’ll cry. I was sobbing out so hard at the end.
2. Click
When I watched this I didn’t expect Click to be a tear-jerker. But I assumed wrongly. This movie is more than just any movie because it has very good moral values. It starts off sending you off to laughter but as it progresses towards the end, I doubt you’ll be laughing much. When I watched Click, I couldn’t help feeling so sorry for Adam Sandler’s character. I think this movie has something that most of us can relate to.
3. Artificial Intelligence (A.I.)
Haley Joel Osment’s acting is just so beautiful in this movie. His portrayal of a human boy robot called David that was built to love unconditionally is just so moving. He was adopted by human parents who had a son with a certain disease that couldn’t be cured at that moment. But eventually a cure was found and David was abandoned by his adopted parents somewhere far from his home. As he traveled on to find his "mom" again he met another robot called Gigolo Joe who accompanied David on his journey to find the Blue Fairy whom he heard from the story of Pinocchio. He believed that the Blue Fairy would grant him of his wish to be a real boy so that his "mom" would love him again. It’s so moving because of David’s determination. And he’s so cute… *sob sob*
4. The Lake House
The Lake House isn’t THAT sad but it’s still pretty touching. It’s about two people who lived two years apart but somehow were connected through this particular postbox in front of a house by the lake. When watching this, don’t start getting all technical about how the postbox can connect two people from different times because that’s gonna ruin the entire movie for you. Just accept it and play along. And Keanu Reeves just looks so hot here =D.
5. One Tree Hill
Okay I know this isn’t a movie but still it’s really really good. I cried a few times watching various episodes from all the seasons. I only got hooked onto it when I downloaded it myself. When I saw the first episode on TV, it didn’t really intrigue me but after I finally worked out how to use torrent files I downloaded the first few seasons of One Tree Hill. So far I’ve watched all 4 seasons and am waiting for the 5th to be released next year =D. Seriously go watch OTH, it’s waaaay better than The O.C. My favorite part of the whole show is how Nathan falls for Haley, how much he changed for her. It’s sooo sweet. And the part after he told her that he had fell for her and then kissed her…omg I kept replaying that scene. I cried watching that. Before I really watched the show I didn’t like Brooke but then as I watched on I found myself really looking up to her. But I really hate Rachel. Ugh. Such a b*tch.

And guess what? I found the band that actually is of equal eminence to Boys Like Girls. They’re called All Time Low. I found out about them ages back but didn’t really bother to download their album until the other day when I saw their newly released album up for downloads. The moment I listened to their first track, I knew I was gonna love them.
So Wrong It’s Right - All Time Low
- This Is How We Do (2:29)
- Let It Roll (3:00)
- Six Feet Under the Stars (3:36)
- Holly (Would You Turn Me On?) (3:52)
- The Beach (3:01)
- Dear Maria, Count Me In (3:02)
- Shameless (3:41)
- Remembering Sunday (4:16)
- Vegas (2:49)
- Stay Awake (Dreams Only Last for a Night) (3:34)
- Come One, Come All (3:32)
- Poppin’ Champagne (3:19)
During my run-through of the album I was looking for a track that would be the next Thunder (from Boys Like Girls). I was really hoping I would and I did find it. =)
Track 11, Remembering Sunday. It’s so awesome and sweet. And there’s also a feature of Juliet Simms of Automatic Loveletter. I didn’t know it at first and was surprised that suddenly a female voice intervened. Initially, I thought she sounded a little screechy but as I listened more I started liking it.
The other tracks are pretty good as well though I don’t really favor Poppin’ Champange. I don’t know why but when the lead is singing the opening line You’ve got me poppin’ champange, the way he says poppin’ is such in a way that I can almost see spit flying from his mouth. Lol.
I’ve had Remembering Sunday on repeat for the past few days already and I haven’t got bored of it yet.
All Time Low is indeed a good band but not almost as great as Boys Like Girls. It’s not just how their songs sound better, there’s something else as well. Especially the song Thunder. =)
