Malicious Minds

The last few hours…

Mmm I can’t believe I’m going to be 17 in a few hours. I remember during my 13th birthday we had an all-girl party. And omg I can’t believe what we played. It was the utmost silliest thing ever! At that time, I was breeding hamsters so many of my friends bought their hamsters from me. And you know what we did? We had a hamster race. As in we let the hamsters race against each other. I can’t believe how silly we were! Lol.

Then on my 14th birthday we had a party at the park. This time it was there were both boys and girls. And we had water balloons. Pretty silly as well. I can’t really remember what we did. But must have been childish.

When I turned 15 I didn’t have a party because I was already gonna have one right after PMR. It was a BBQ party.

And last year…hmm I’m trying to recall if I did anything. I don’t think I had anything on except for the usual outing with my girlfriends. Oh well…and I was pretty much single almost the entire year…so nothing special I guess.

But mmm…this year. I have you! And I can’t wait for your "surprise" for me tomorrow. I’ve waited for over a week for this, so it better be good! =P

Anyway, coming back to the remaining hours I have left of my sweet 16, I’m thinking back to what I’ve done during my 16th year of breathing. Actually being 16 is a sweet experience. Well there were bittersweet experiences but the word "sweet" is still there no? Lolz.

In our group all our birthday are well spread throughout the year so we pretty much get to celebrate birthdays frequently =D. And well I’m the youngest one. Hence, the constant bullying I get from my girlfriends.

We make it a tradition to celebrate each other’s birthday every year but I suppose this year has to be an exception since it’s our SPM year. But at least we’re going for my birthday jog in the morning and head to breakfast together.

Then it’ll be your turn to celebrate my birthday! Oh my goddd…I can’t wait. I still haven’t decide what to wear. =/ And this is such a bad timing because I’m having my period and I’m getting bloated. Grr. I need to find something awesome to wear so I’ll still look stunningly hot despite my bloated tummy. Haha.

I better get going. Need to decide what to wear tomorrow. I don’t want to make any last-minute decisions. That always turns out to be something like "Oh, I should have worn the other shirt!"

So this is going to be my last post as a 16 year old. Not like it’s gonna be much of a difference but I tend to take note of stuffs like that. I’m weird I know. Ask anyone around me. But that’s just me =D. Goodnight! Don’t forget to wish me Happy Birthday if you do read this. =)

Oh. My. God.

Close your eyes and breathe deeply. Clear your mind…don’t panic.

But how can I not panic?! SPM is a freaking 21 days away. Oh my godddd… Now the panic has some surging in. Warning bells are ringing in my head. *inhales deeply*

Well the bright side is that after these 3 weeks, I shall face the final obstacle in high school and will go into hibernation for 3 whole months before I regain consciousness to face…judgment day. Oh god. That’s even worse than SPM. Sigh.

Alright, let me re-compose myself. Three weks left. 21 days left. 504 hours left. I shall stop my late nights so as to cut my on afternoon nap hours. My goal is to spend 4-6 hours daily on revision. No ifs, buts or whatever. Keep all sources of distraction at bay. I think it’ll be best if I plug out my Internet line and switch off my computer. It’s so distracting to study in front of your computer especially when it’s on. =/ I even had the thought to even drag my CPU and monitor outside my room. But I guess not, too much trouble.

Ooh yeahh…a little something to cheer myself up - my birthday! 30th October, 8 days from today! Can’t wait to see where you’re gonna bring me. =D As much as I lurrveee surprises, I hate the waiting part. The suspense. The anticipation. >.<

Can’t wait, can’t wait, can’t wait. Grrr… =P

And yeah, tomorrow the Rotary District Governor is coming to Kajang to give us a certificate because he’s so impressed by what our Interact Club has done this year. According to Sir Willeam, we’re going to have high tea by the poolside in Oriental Crystal Hotel in Kajang. I certainly hope it is true. Haha. It’s a new hotel, just opened last month and apparently it’s a 4 star hotel. Again I hope it’s true. Can’t wait to wear my gorgeous sexy Interact uniform again tomorrow. Lol. =D

There’s something wrong with my world

No one ever said life was fair

And that is true. Life never is fair, no matter how much you want it to be. You want to experience all the wonders and delicacies of life but it’s very rare we get to. Almost zero chance. Why? Because there’s always something or someone that’s holding onto the leash around your neck.

When you’re young it’s usually your parents who will start as the little pebble in your shoe which will rapidly progress to causing the flow of your desires/dreams/wishes to be stagnant. For certain, you would feel really angry and lash out at them. Then, most likely you would find someone close perhaps a boyfriend or girlfriend or maybe your best friend to complain to. If they’re empathetic then that would help remove part of the emotional burden. If they’re derogative then you’re gonna feel even lower and start getting saturnine and blame the entire world for not understanding you.

But after a while of crying and cursing silently, with only the dregs of anger and bitterness left behind, you’d start feeling better. Perhaps you would start to see some sense in what your parents have said but still wishing that they would have an inkling of how you would feel. Then, for a short moment, you would start hoping that your mom or dad would knock on your door to discuss it with you again and maybe change their minds. Sometimes if you’re lucky, it happens. But otherwise, it doesn’t. Like me.

Sigh.

I submitted my profile and pictures the other day to this models magazine. It was just merely for fun at first. Then I received a reply from them saying that they’d viewed my profile and if I agree to their terms, email them my number. So I did. No doubt after that I got a little excited. A few days later, the producer called me and asked me to attend the photo shoot on the next day. Naturally, I’d get excited. So I told my mom and naturally she was against it. I spent a few hours convincing and I did in the end.

But guess what? When my dad comes home, I tell him, at first he was okay then suddenly my mom switched sides and joined forces with him to discourage me. That was what I feared. My mom is always like that. Sigh.

Oh well. At least I know that I was good enough to get selected. =/ Still…it would be awesome if I could go. (huge) sigh. Life’s like that I guess. Individualism is practically non-existent for me at this period of life. Ah well..fudge it.

Mmm…

I just watched The Notebook again the other night with my mom. This time I controlled myself better, but you should have seen my mom. She was crying and crying and crying. Lol. My mom is the kind that cry easily watching movies and when I suggested to her to watch The Notebook and I knew that this movie was going to run her waterworks dry, because I myself cried, and not many movies can do that. So if a movie manages to make me cry then it’s a really good one. I’ll make my short list of tear-jerking movies:

1. The Notebook
This is actually and adaptation of Nicholas Spark’s book The Notebook. It starts showing an old man reading a book to this old woman who has dementia. The story is about a couple who fell in love during their summer holidays and later got separated when the girl moves off to college. For seven years they lived different lives and then that faithful day came when they would meet each other again. This rekindled the flame that was left to die during their youth. The ending to this movie isn’t a sad one, it’s actually a very good ending. But because it’s so beautiful and happy that you’ll cry. I was sobbing out so hard at the end.

2. Click
When I watched this I didn’t expect Click to be a tear-jerker. But I assumed wrongly. This movie is more than just any movie because it has very good moral values. It starts off sending you off to laughter but as it progresses towards the end, I doubt you’ll be laughing much. When I watched Click, I couldn’t help feeling so sorry for Adam Sandler’s character. I think this movie has something that most of us can relate to.

3. Artificial Intelligence (A.I.)
Haley Joel Osment’s acting is just so beautiful in this movie. His portrayal of a human boy robot called David that was built to love unconditionally is just so moving. He was adopted by human parents who had a son with a certain disease that couldn’t be cured at that moment. But eventually a cure was found and David was abandoned by his adopted parents somewhere far from his home. As he traveled on to find his "mom" again he met another robot called Gigolo Joe who accompanied David on his journey to find the Blue Fairy whom he heard from the story of Pinocchio. He believed that the Blue Fairy would grant him of his wish to be a real boy so that his "mom" would love him again. It’s so moving because of David’s determination. And he’s so cute… *sob sob*

4. The Lake House

The Lake House isn’t THAT sad but it’s still pretty touching. It’s about two people who lived two years apart but somehow were connected through this particular postbox in front of a house by the lake. When watching this, don’t start getting all technical  about how the postbox can connect two people from different times because that’s gonna ruin the entire movie for you. Just accept it and play along. And Keanu Reeves just looks so hot here =D.

5. One Tree Hill
Okay I know this isn’t a movie but still it’s really really good. I cried a few times watching various episodes from all the seasons. I only got hooked onto it when I downloaded it myself. When I saw the first episode on TV, it didn’t really intrigue me but after I finally worked out how to use torrent files I downloaded the first few seasons of One Tree Hill. So far I’ve watched all 4 seasons and am waiting for the 5th to be released next year =D. Seriously go watch OTH, it’s waaaay better than The O.C. My favorite part of the whole show is how Nathan falls for Haley, how much he changed for her. It’s sooo sweet. And the part after he told her that he had fell for her and then kissed her…omg I kept replaying that scene. I cried watching that. Before I really watched the show I didn’t like Brooke but then as I watched on I found myself really looking up to her. But I really hate Rachel. Ugh. Such a b*tch.

————————————————————————————–
And guess what? I found the band that actually is of equal eminence to Boys Like Girls. They’re called All Time Low. I found out about them ages back but didn’t really bother to download their album until the other day when I saw their newly released album up for downloads. The moment I listened to their first track, I knew I was gonna love them.

So Wrong It’s Right - All Time Low
00all_time_lowso_wrong_its_right2007

  1. This Is How We Do (2:29)
  2. Let It Roll (3:00)
  3. Six Feet Under the Stars (3:36)
  4. Holly (Would You Turn Me On?) (3:52)
  5. The Beach (3:01)
  6. Dear Maria, Count Me In (3:02)
  7. Shameless (3:41)
  8. Remembering Sunday (4:16)
  9. Vegas (2:49)
  10. Stay Awake (Dreams Only Last for a Night) (3:34)
  11. Come One, Come All (3:32)
  12. Poppin’ Champagne (3:19)

During my run-through of the album I was looking for a track that would be the next Thunder (from Boys Like Girls). I was really hoping I would and I did find it. =)

Track 11, Remembering Sunday. It’s so awesome and sweet. And there’s also a feature of Juliet Simms of Automatic Loveletter. I didn’t know it at first and was surprised that suddenly a female voice intervened. Initially, I thought she sounded a little screechy but as I listened more I started liking it.

The other tracks are pretty good as well though I don’t really favor Poppin’ Champange. I don’t know why but when the lead is singing the opening line You’ve got me poppin’ champange, the way he says poppin’ is such in a way that I can almost  see spit flying from his mouth. Lol.

I’ve had Remembering Sunday on repeat for the past few days already and I haven’t got bored of it yet.

All Time Low is indeed a good band but not almost as great as Boys Like Girls. It’s not just how their songs sound better, there’s something else as well. Especially the song Thunder. =)

Latest thoughts in my head

I’m pretty sure most or rather all of you have noticed the big hoo haa over Dr Sheikh Muszaphar launching himself to outer space. I mean yeah, it’s a big step for us Malaysians considering we’re a Third World country. Took us 50 long years to do something that might perhaps bring us closer to being of equal eminence to other leading countries.

But wait … didn’t I just say that we’re a Third World country? Yes, that’s right. We’re not first or even second but Third World country. According to Wikipedia a third world country means:

In general, Third World countries are not as industrialized or technologically advanced as OECD countries, and consequently developing nation is the current term in use in academia.

So we’re an underdeveloped country although not as bad as countries like Afghanistan or Chad. But still we spend millions just to send one Malaysian up there into space to carry out a couple of experiments. Why couldn’t we have used that money to curb poverty or to improve the local schools? What’s the point having sent one Malaysian astronaut into space but still have thousands of people living in poverty?

I mean I don’t want to sound derogative but I notice that we tend to focus on bigger but less important issues rather than on matters of greater significance like what I’ve mentioned above - poverty.  My dad was telling me just now that yesterday he saw on TV, one channel going on about how many millions of RM was spent to send an astronaut to space but another channel was showing the lives of the really poor people in Malaysia.

So you see the thing here? That colossal amount of money could have been channeled towards the poorer people to help improve their lives. And that’s definitely going to help more than one person. The government is trying to create a name for us in the international playground but what’s the point of that if foreigners come to our country to see beggars punctuating the streets?

I foreshadow that there will be a number of people who will want voice to their opinions regarding this. I’ll keep an eye open to see if my dad buys DAP’s newspaper The Rocket. Most likely they’ll have an article or two about this.

Life’s so much exciting … with you

Lol. I can’t believe what happened today. We got caught in the act. Well not really but yeah they knew our intentions. =P Haha. It was scary at first but being there with you made it…I don’t know, exciting? Near the end before we left, I was on the verge of bursting out in laughter. But I held it in in case they saw.

And then the rain suddenly just came down in sheets. We were only out in the rain for like 5 seconds? And we got soaked to the skin. Haha.

Mmm … so many things happened for us to remember. =D Lurve you.

I’m Not Sure How To Handle This

I know we’ve talked about it and you’ve promised that you would try hard for me. But I don’t know why there’s still this lingering feeling of uneasiness and restlessness in me. Maybe it just takes time to go away. Well hopefully it does. I seriously don’t favor this feeling. =/

Sonsofday - Fragile People

Sonsofday is an alternative rock band by four brothers. They’re pretty new, formed in 2005. They don’t even have their own page on Wikipedia yet so many probably haven’t heard of them yet.

Their first album Fragile People already captured my ear on my first run-through of the album. It’s very refreshing from the typical rock/punk-rock I’ve been listening to. Sonsofday describes their music as real life, authentic, and human, a true reflection of who they are as people. The music is really light-hearted, easy and not really emo.

The album has a total of 11 tracks.
1. This Place
2. Reconcile
3. Greatest Love
4. Fragile People
5. Left Without A Goodbye
6. Why
7. Try To Forget
8. Getaway
9. Riches And Wine
10. Another Day
11. Oceans Deep

The few songs that caught my attention at earlier points are This Place, Reconcile, Greatest Love, Riches and Wine, Another Day and Oceans Deep. It’s always like that, like I usually notice songs at the beginning and the end of the list. The middle always just goes on unnoticed until later on.

I’ve been racking my brain trying to come up with another band which has a similar sound to Sonsofday. So far the closest match I can think of is Dashboard Confessional, Lifehouse and The Rocket Summer. Although Sonsofday isn’t as emo as Lifehouse and the vocals aren’t as squeaky as The Rocket Summer. Lol.

You would definitely love this if you want something that’s light, authentic, mature (no angst and stuff) and fresh. Hehe. Quick go get it or if you can’t, drop me a message. =)
